The SEDF’s 2011 “Watch Us Grow” Fundraising Campaign aims to assist young adults with Learning Differences on behalf of the Student Educational Development Fund (SEDF).
The Spectrum Playhouse and Joyous Studios have a tentative grand opening date of July 2012. In order to transform the space into a professional performing and visual arts center, renovations must take place to the facility. Professional stage lighting, sound, and other physical plant updates will take place prior to the 2012 grand opening. Due to generosity of individuals and businesses alike, the SEDF has partially met it’s goal.
All proceeds from SEDF will benefit the following:
SEDF Scholarship Fund
The Student Educational Development Fund (SEDF) provided over $100,000 in financial aid to students attending the College Internship Program (CIP). Our goal for 2011 is to increase the number of students enrolled who qualify for scholarship assistance.
Professional Development Training Seminars
In January and February this year, SEDF sponsored five nationwide conferences for faculty, clinicians, teachers, and parents in cutting-edge research that addressed the educational issues CIP students and their families confront. This fundraising campaign will allow us to continue sponsoring conferences in the autumn of 2011 and winter of 2012.
Integrating Visual and Performing Arts
SEDF’s Mission Statement now includes making visual and performing arts an important part of the services we offer CIP students. The Berkshire Visual and Performing Arts Center (BPVAC) will highlight the talents of students through the Good Purpose Art Gallery, The Spectrum Playhouse, and with work/study/learn opportunities at The Starving Artist Café. This fundraising campaign will allow us to expand this program to our other campuses.
